The Fort Worth Business Press reports that a group of students participating through Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail, located in Fort Worth, were selected as the winner of the FedEx’s Junior Business Challenge.
The young entrepreneurs formed a company called Our Story and won $75,000 in donations from FedEx.

Serve Denton has shared they have launched a capital campaign to raise funds to increase their building capacity. The expansion project will allow more nonprofits to be located at the Serve Denton Center.
The center currently has nine on-site partners and four virtual partners. Michele Barber and Hank Dickenson will serve as Capital Campaign Co-Chairs.
Texas Women’s Foundation, located in Dallas, announces their new Board of Directors and has named A. Shonn Brown as chair, serving from 2019-2021. Brown, vice president and deputy general counsel at Kimberly-Clark, has served on the Foundation board since 2015, co-chaired the Annual Luncheon in 2017 and helped establish The Village Giving Circle at Texas Women’s Foundation. She succeeds Caren K. Lock.

Equest, located in Dallas, announced their annual Boots & Salutes event has again provided funds for their fastest-growing program, Hooves for Heroes which offers equine-assisted activities and therapies to help veterans and their families transition from military to civilian life.
Co-Chairs Carolyn Anderson and Norma Jean Schaltenbrand led the evening of tributes to the men and women who have served their nation.
Veterans and first responders were recognized during the evening and Hooves for Heroes awards were presented to two participants. Marine veteran Derick Garcia received the Pay It Forward Award, and Navy veteran KoCo Powell received the Above and Beyond Award.
DFW501c has announced their sponsorship of the 5th Annual Nonprofit Workshop presented by the Public Relations Society (PRSA) of America, Dallas chapter.
Every year, PRSA Dallas offers a FREE half-day PR workshop for nonprofits to help them get ready for giving season and North Texas Giving Day. For nonprofit organizations, it’s a chance to hone their branding and messaging, media relations, digital marketing and social media skills with tips from the experts —including the media themselves. This event sells out every year, demonstrating the need local nonprofits have for communication training.
This year’s event is held Friday, July 26 at Goodwill Industries of Dallas.
WFAA reports the group, 100 Men of Dallas, formerly 100 Men of East Dallas, is promoting philanthropic investments in their local nonprofits.
In a format similar to a friendlier ‘Shark Tank’ the group hosts a social hour for members who each contributes $100. Then three pre-selected charities are invited to present their cause for consideration. The nonprofit with the most votes receives that evening’s donations.
The Texas Women’s Foundation, located in Dallas, has launched “Count Her In,” a social media campaign celebrating 100 people, organizations and milestones that have advanced voting rights for Texas women from the earliest days of the suffrage movement through the present day.
The campaign runs for 62 weeks, from June 28, 2019, the same day that Texas ratified the 19th Amendment in 1919, to August 26, 2020, celebrated as Women’s Equality Day. The campaign tells stories of women and men in Texas who were leaders in voters’ rights, with the goal to educate and activate more people, particularly women, to register and exercise their right to vote.
Roslyn Dawson Thompson, Texas Women’s Foundation president and CEO, said, “With our goal to transform Texas for women and girls, Texas Women’s Foundation believes that can only take place when women are full participants, and a critical way to achieve that is by motivating more women to exercise their right to vote. This project can be a catalyst for women across the state to understand their rights and use them.”
