United Way of Denton County and Interfaith’s Apple Tree Project coordinate county-wide Back to School Fair

The Denton Record-Chronicle reported that United Way of Denton County and Interfaith’s Apple Tree Project have teamed up to coordinate one large, county-wide Back to School Fair this week. The fair came about as an effort to hold one huge donation and distribution event as opposed to many smaller drives hosted by individual nonprofits.

Time is Running Out

The first part of the fair is called “Stuff the Bus” and is taking place this week. Donors are encouraged to drop off school supplies at various area locations or donate online. The second part of the fair will take place on Aug. 11 and includes the distribution of school supplies to those in need.

So far, 16 business and local nonprofits are participating, including Health Services or North Texas, Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Serve Denton, Denton Bible Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the City of Denton and Denton Police Department.

Over 3,000 students have signed up for the fair so far.
