The Kessler School “Building Our Future” campaign announces matching gift

Written by DFW501c Reporter

The Kessler School welcomed more than 40 parents, alumni, and friends on October 16 for an inspiring evening celebrating the momentum of Building Our Future: The TKS Capital Campaign. Hosted by Campaign Chair Aaron Chambers and Head of School Dr. Michael Roemer at the Oak Cliff home of David Griffin and James Ferrara, the event recognized the generosity of the school’s community and shared stories of “Unlimited Learning” in action.

Guests enjoyed curated hors d’oeuvres by Michelin-recommended chef Jon Stevens of Stock & Barrel and heard heartfelt reflections from three generations of TKS students—including alumna Elsbeth Weempe (@elsbeth_weempe), a local journalist and dating influencer; an alumna who is now a senior at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; and a current third grader.

The evening included remarks from Shelbi Barnhouse, Chair of the TKS Board of Trustees, who emphasized the lasting impact of community support. It concluded with the announcement of a $500,000 matching gift from an anonymous TKS family, which will double every contribution made through Spring Break 2026. The campaign committee includes David Griffin, Lauren Black, Nima Baha, Dave Shallenberger, and Vanessa Ullmann.
