  • Liberty Mutual Foundation Seeking Proposals to Help Homeless

    The Liberty Mutual Foundation has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Dallas-area agencies focused on addressing the needs of the homeless.

    They are seeking programs that directly provide:

    1. Shelter for youth, families or adults, including emergency shelter and time-limited transitional housing, with an emphasis on pairing shelter with access to case management or other social services.

    2. Meals or food for low-income individuals and those experiencing homelessness, with an emphasis on health and nutrition.

    3. Healthcare and medical services for those experiencing homelessness.

    The goal of the Liberty Mutual Foundation Basic Services Initiative is to boost the capacity of existing basic services networks and safety net programs within metropolitan Dallas, with an emphasis on serving low-income neighborhoods.

    Liberty Mutual’s philanthropy invests in community initiatives dedicated to empowering individuals who are experiencing homelessness, advancing access for people with disabilities, and expanding educational opportunities for underserved students.

    Deadline for applications is June 17.

  • Best Buy Offering Event Sponsorships

    The Best Buy Foundation is offering event sponsorship grants to USA nonprofits for events in the areas of diversity and inclusion, teens and technology, public affairs, and arts and culture. National events will be given priority over local events.

  • Charles H. Stout Foundation Grant Opportunity

    The Charles H. Stout Foundation is now accepting grants for 2019. The foundation awards grants to organizations operating for charitable, scientific, literacy, educational or religious purposes or for the prevention of child abuse and cruelty to animals.

  • Shell Oil Company Grant Opportunity

    Shell Oil Company is offering grants to USA organizations for programs that provide services to low or middle-income individuals in the areas of community, education, and environment. Priority is given to nonprofits serving communities in which Shell Oil Company has a strong presence, such as North Texas.

  • Texas Council for Development Disabilities Awards Outreach and Development Grant

    December 2018 – The Texas Council for Development Disabilities (TCDD) recently awarded an Outreach and Development grant to the Hatching Hope Foundation (HHF). With this grant, HHF will develop programs and initiatives to increase access to autism services for underserved communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

    HHF was established to educate caregivers and empower families affected by autism. The organization’s mission is to address the shortage of education, advocacy and care associated with autism through educational workshops, community events and family support services.

    TCDD’s Outreach and Development grants are intended to help small grassroots organizations become more established to support people with disabilities in their communities. Through these grant projects, organizations connect with – and support – traditionally under-represented or underserved populations.   • Speedway Children’s Charities Opens Annual Grant Cycle

    On January 7, 2019, Speedway Children’s Charities opened the grant cycle for their annual Partner and Founders grants by hosting an online grant workshop. The 2019 workshop will be available January 7, 2019 – January 31, 2019.

    Speedway Children’s Charities is dedicated to helping children. Through a variety of events and fundraisers held throughout the year, each SCC chapter raises funds to be distributed in their local communities. These funds are distributed in the form of one-time grants among worthy nonprofit organizations that address the needs of children.

  • Speedway Children’s Charities tree lighting and grant ceremony

    KHOU11, Houston’s leading local news station, reported on Dec. 4th that one of the state’s largest living Christmas trees was the center of Texas Motor Speedway’s holiday charity event in Fort Worth Tuesday night. The 74-foot, 7,000-lb. Norway spruce was lit with over 10,000 LED lights during the Speedway Children’s Charities grant event where more than $258,000 was distributed to nine North Texas children’s organizations. Among the grants the largest was a Founder’s Grant for $139,847 given to the Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco. The grant will be used to commence its Mobile Maker Space, a workshop on wheels that will consist of a van and 16-foot trailer outfitted with the essential tools and kits to operate on-site programs. The Mobile Maker Space will bring opportunities to schools and children who otherwise would be unable to visit the Sci-Tech Discovery Center. With services accessible to 10,000 children in the Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties, the Sci-Tech Discovery Center was created to engage and inspire students of all ages and backgrounds and allow them to embrace discovery and innovation through the active exploration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

    In addition to Sci-Tech Discovery Center Founder’s Grant, those grants of $15,000 or more were awarded to:

    • Callier Center For Communication Disorders ($25,000) – Serving 51 children in Dallas County, these funds will underwrite the cost of their Cochlear Implant Summer Camps, a vital component of their pediatric treatment services.
    • Camp Summit, Inc. ($25,000) – Serving 550-plus children in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties, this grant will support the campership and financial assistance project at Camp Summit.
    • Texas Motor Speedway Speeding To Read Program ($21,144.50) – This donation was used to assist participating schools with T-shirts to more than 12,000 students in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
    • Health Services Of North Texas, Inc. ($15,210) – Serving 100 children in Denton County, this grant will provide uninsured pediatric patients living in poverty with essential medical visits at no cost to their families.
    The other organizations receiving grants on Tuesday night were NASCAR Ride of a Lifetime ($13,050), Breakthrough at Fort Worth Country Day ($10,000), ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship ($9,000), and the 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser for Nonprofits ($1,683.75).
