The Dallas Foundation has announced its 2018 Field of Interest grants that include gifts of over $1.1 million to 35 NonProfits in Dallas and Collin counties. The grants support local needs ranging from the arts to social services.
“We are proud to make awards to these nonprofits which are making a measurable difference in meeting the needs in North Texas,” said Jim Moroney, Dallas Foundation board chairman. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to invest in programs and services where our grants can make a real difference.”
The grant recipients include:
- The Spay Neuter Network received $287,020 from the Louis B. and Mary Ratliff Fund for Animal Welfare to support the second year of the “Let’s Fix This!” campaign. With this funding, the organization will continue to address the loose- and stray-dog problem in Southern Dallas while also increasing public safety and reducing the high rate of animal euthanasia.
- The Bridge received $75,000 in support of its Emergency Medical Services program offered in collaboration with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department. The funding will allow The Bridge to expand its on-site EMT coverage, alleviating the cost of frequently having emergency medical teams called to the scene.
- The Dallas Black Dance Theatre received $35,000 from the Jean Baptiste “Tad” Adoue III fund to support the acquisition and Dallas premiere of “ODETTA” and the restaging of Dianne McIntyre’s “The Nina Simone Project.” These projects will help fulfill the theater’s mission to bridge cultures by reaching diverse communities and encompassing national audiences.
A $5,000 first-time grant was awarded from the Dale and Barbara Reed Fund for Abused Children to Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County to provide clinical services to child victims of abuse and neglect.
Additional recipients include: Aurora Culture Project, Cara Mia Theatre Co., Dallas Museum of Art, Champions of Hope Mentors, Methodist Health System Foundation, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Chase’s Place, The Winston School, Leukemia Texas, Southwestern Diabetic Foundation, LiftFund Inc., Seniors’ Pet Assistance Network, Chocolate Mint Foundation, Community Partners of Dallas, Family Gateway, Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic, North Dallas Shared Ministries, Our Friends Place, Resource Center of Dallas, The Visiting Nurse Association, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, Catholic Charities Dallas, Friends of the Dallas Public Library, Heart House, Jewish Family Service, KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth, Mayor’s Summer Reading Club, Readers 2 Leaders, REAL School Gardens, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
