CBS 11 shared that Dallas-based nonprofit, OurCalling, has developed an app to help connect the homeless with emergency shelters.
OurCalling has created an app that lists all nearby shelters and allows shelters to communicate with each other so they can find who has available beds and which shelters are full.
According to OurCalling’s website, there are 2,500 available beds in Dallas for an estimated 10,000 homeless people. However, when the temperatures drop, several emergency shelters open and OurCalling, which typically operates during the day, will also open as needed for overnight beds.
