Veteran of child advocacy sector joins Rees-Jones Foundation

The donor funds organizations that improve quality of life for families in North Texas and abroad.

A fifteen-year veteran of Alliance for Children (AFC) has joined the The Rees-Jones Foundation as Program Director.

Shellie Velasco, LMSW, first served as a Center Coordinator for AFC. She then held roles as Director of Centers and Education, Director of Community Engagement, and Chief Program Officer for the agency.

The Rees-Jones Foundation was founded in 2006 by Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones out of proceeds from an entrepreneurial business enterprise. The Foundation partners with nonprofit organizations in North Texas and around the world that defend the welfare of children suffering from abuse or neglect, afford relief to those facing mental health challenges, provide youth with opportunities for enrichment and character development, encourage healthy families and communities, enhance the lives of children and youth with disabilities, and promote the humane treatment of companion animals.

Velasco joined The Foundation in November.
