Tarleton Biology Professor Award to Study Threatened Species in Texas

Tarleton State University, located in Stephenville, has shared that biology professor Russell Pfau has been awarded a $100,000 grant to study the crawfish frog.

The award is from Texas Parks and Wildlife and will target the declining populations of the crawfish frog which is listed as endangered or in decline in several states.

The four-year project will focus on collecting DNA from the frogs, conducting genetic analysis and providing a report to guide decisions about listing the crawfish frog as threatened or endangered in Texas.
