Momentous Institute promotes new Director of Education

The Momentous Institute is dedicated to building and repairing social and emotional health through education and mental health programs – helping more than 5,500 kids each year.

The organization recently announced Dr. Karen Norris as Momentous Institute’s new Director of Education. Dr. Norris is a 25-year veteran of Momentous Institute with an extensive educational background.

– Dr. Norris holds several degrees and post-graduate certifications, including a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Texas (UNT), a master’s in reading from UNT, and a master’s in mind, brain, and education from the University of Texas.

– Having grown up in Belize, Karen is bilingual in English and Spanish, bicultural, and back visiting family in Belize as often as possible. Her mother is also a teacher, so it is not an exaggeration to say that Dr. Norris has been studying education from day one.

– Dr. Norris taught sixth grade for nine years at Momentous School before transitioning to the role of Professional Learning Coordinator, leading to her most recent role as Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

– Dr. Norris has served as an adjunct professor of education at both El Centro College and Southern Methodist University.
