In a letter on The Meadows Foundation’s website, Linda Perryman Evans, current President and CEO of the Foundation, announced her upcoming retirement on December 31, 2019.
Evans will have served as president and CEO for nearly 25 years when she retires. The Meadows Foundation was founded by her great-uncle and aunt, Algur H. and Virginia Meadows in 1976.
During her tenure, the Foundation has focused primarily on public education, mental health and the environment, establishing The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State University in San Marcos, and The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at The University of Texas at Austin.
Evans states that she intends to remain a trustee of the Foundation and will continue to contribute to its work, including the transition when her successor is named.
She closed her letter by saying, “It has been the privilege of my life to work at The Meadows Foundation and with three generations of Meadows family board members. I am also truly grateful to have met and worked with so many compassionate and generous people across the state who are dedicated to making life a little better each day.”
