Up to $500k for African American culture

  • FUNDER: Institute of Museum and Library Sciences
  • AWARD AMOUNT: $5k-$500k
  • Anticipated # of awards: 35
  • DEADLINE TO APPLY: November 15, 2024
  • Who is eligible: A museum whose primary purpose, as reflected in its mission, is African American life, art, history, and/or culture, encompassing: the period of slavery; the era of Reconstruction; the Harlem renaissance; the civil rights movement; or other periods of the African American diaspora; and use a professional staff, be organized on a permanent basis, own tangible objects, and exhibit these objects for the general public.

SUMMARY: This RFP is to build the capacity of African American museums and support the growth and development of museum professionals at African American museums. Funding will support projects that nurture museum professionals, build institutional capacity, and increase access to museum and archival collections at African American museums and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Up to $10M for Japanese American Confinement Education

  • FUNDER: National Park Service
  • AWARD AMOUNT: $750K-$10M
  • Anticipated # of awards: 2
  • DEADLINE TO APPLY: November 14, 2024
  • Who is eligible: Nonprofits. The National Park Service (NPS) encourages proposals from applicants who identify themselves as a Japanese American organization as defined in the authorizing legislation.
  • Match required? Yes

SUMMARY: This RFP funding is to support projects that educate the public about the historical importance of understanding Japanese American confinement in the United States during World War II, so that present and future generations may learn from Japanese American confinement and the commitment of the United States to equal justice under the law.
