United Way Tarrant CEO resigns, interim CEO named

United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) President and CEO Leah M. King, CFRE, has announced her resignation, effective October 23. She will be continuing her service to Tarrant County as president of the JPS Foundation.

Time is Running Out

Under Leah’s leadership, United Way of Tarrant County has strengthened its commitment to addressing critical needs across our region, expanded its reach, and elevated our mission in ways that will leave a lasting impact,” said Steve Bobb, United Way of Tarrant County Board Chair. “Her dedication, vision and compassion have truly been a beacon for our organization and for all those we support.”

Prior to her appointment as president and CEO in November 2019, King served as executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer of UWTC. A long-time volunteer and donor for the organization, she first joined UWTC in 2016. King is also an elected official and serves as president of the board of directors at the Tarrant Regional Water District.

Regina R. Williams, LMSW, a community advocate and current Chief Impact Officer for United Way of Tarrant County, has been selected to serve as the organization’s interim CEO, effective October 23.

“Regina demonstrates unwavering commitment to UWTC and the community its employees support,” said Steve Bobb, UWTC board chair who leads the executive committee responsible for CEO selection for the organization. “The executive committee of the UWTC board feels fortunate that we have a deep bench of knowledge and experience on the UWTC leadership team to provide continuity of work during the transition and going forward.”

As EVP and Chief Impact Officer since 2023, Williams has led the strategic investment of UWTC’s financial and non-financial resources to improve outcomes for the individuals and families we serve.  She brings vast experience in strategic planning, program development and management, with capable, effective leadership. She joined UWTC in 2018 as vice president of community investment and regional director of UWTC-Greater Arlington. Prior to coming to UWTC, Williams was a social worker and grant and community partnership manager at Fort Worth’s historic Dunbar High School.

UWTC’s executive committee of the Board of Directors is launching a formal search to fill the president and CEO position.
