DFW501C announces new subsector coverage

In this week’s news, we’d like to introduce a new important nonprofit subsector- Conservation and Animal Welfare. In recent news we’ve had Earth Day, Arbor Day, and best of all – the opening of Texas State Parks for day usage. This access to the natural world can be a critical mental health saver for many of us in ordinary times – but especially right now.

New to the team, DFW501C freelance contributor, Laura Wood, spent 15 years of her fundraising career with a focus on the conservation of our natural world. She looks forward to bringing you relevant perspective on the innovative ways in which nonprofits are protecting the clean air, water and open spaces in one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country.

And of course we can’t forget our beloved furry loved ones. In addition to the precious wildlife of our region, our pets provide companionship, mental health, medical assistance and more – providing a platform for more than 100 rescue groups, zoos, and other nonprofits whose mission it is to protect and serve the four-legged among us.

We look forward to sharing some of these inspiring stories with you in weeks to come! In the meantime – get outdoors, breathe in the unusually clean, spring air and know that we’re all in this together.
