Communities in Schools (CIS) announced their new pilot program for Mental Health and Support and Counseling Services during the 2018-2019 school year. The goals of the Mental Health and Support and Counseling Services are to provide support and treatment of student and family concerns, establish beneficial social-emotional skills, promote positive communication and thought patterns, and assist in improving the student’s academic and behavioral success.
CIS provides intensive, ongoing case
management directly inside schools for students identified as most-at-risk due
to a variety of barriers they and their families face. CIS Social Workers
provide individualized case management plans and are housed on a full-time basis
within each of their partnering schools during the academic year.
