North Texas Book Festival named Janet Sever Hull, author of “The Button Box,” and her illustrator, Vicki Killion Guess, as the featured speakers for the 2018 event April 7 at Patterson-Appleton Arts Center in Denton. It’s the first time an author and an illustrator have shared the bill.
“The Button Box,” was published in 2014, and their second book, “Which Came First?,” a story for children, was published in 2016. Both books are based on true stories from the author’s life. “The Button Box” was named a finalist in the national Best Book Awards in November 2016, and “Which Came First?” was chosen Best Children’s Book at NTBF this year.
Their third book, “The Day The Turkey Came To School,” was published last month. It’s also based on a true story about an experience the author and her daughter, Anna, had one November day when Anna was a little girl.
