Grand Prairie’s Epic Waters team members tackle Habitat for Humanity project

Management team members from Grand Prairie’s Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark recently donned hard hats and tool belts to build a brand new three-bedroom home in support of Trinity Habitat for Humanity.

“We intend for community service to play a regular role in our business operations—in fact, we want community involvement to be one of the main characteristics our brand is known for,” stated Richard Coleman, principal for American Resort Management (the waterpark’s operator), in a press release. “Since we’re getting close to our grand opening, it seemed like the perfect time to demonstrate that intention with a meaningful act of service that we could perform as a team. When we learned about the Habitat for Humanity opportunity, we knew we’d found the perfect project.”

During the all-day build, which took place in the Como neighborhood of west Fort Worth, Epic Waters volunteers were asked to construct a 1,150-square-foot residence, which will be the home of a deserving family.

“We got to do everything— window installation, installation of roof braces, insulation, completion of the overhang, you name it,” Coleman stated. “It was gratifying to see the staff come together to work as a team, especially in those moments where staff members were being asked to step up and do something that was out of their experience or comfort zone, like using a power tool.”

“However, it was even more rewarding to see the finished product at the end of a hard day’s work,” he continued, “because we knew that our efforts will ultimately improve another person’s life. The entire experience was very positive, and we are looking forward to supporting Habitat for Humanity and other community organizations for many years to come.”

Located in Grand Prairie, Epic Waters is an 80,000-square-foot, indoor/outdoor, retractable-roof waterpark that will offer daily, year-round admission when the park opens soon. Billed as a “cruise ship on land,” the park features attractions for every member of the family and for groups large and small, including waterslides, private event areas and more.
