Dallas Opera Names Kern Wildenthal as Interim General Director and CEO

The Dallas Opera announced the appointment of Dr. Kern Wildenthal, former Board Chairman, as interim general director and CEO on Thursday, December 21, 2017. Dr. Wildenthal will serve as a volunteer in this role until a permanent general director is found.

This news follows the December 15 resignation announcement of former General Director and CEO Keith Cerny, who was appointed General Director and CEO of Calgary Opera in Alberta, Canada.

Dr. Wildenthal, who chaired TDO’s Board from 2008 to 2012 (during its move to the Winspear Opera House), has been a loyal supporter of the company for many years, a press release stated.

A transition team is in place as the search for a permanent general director begins.
