North Texas Area United Way kicks off $500,000 goal for community programs

The Times Record News reported that North Texas Area United Way recently kicked off its annual campaign and announced its goal to be $500,000. The funds will benefit different nonprofits in the Wichita Falls community. They include:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita
  • Child Care, Inc. – Quality Childcare
  • Communities In Schools (CIS) – ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education):
  • Helen Farabee Centers – PACK (Pursuing Alternative Choices Through Knowledge)
  • Iowa Park Recreational Activity Center – RAC PAC Kids: RAC PAC Kids (Recreational Activity Club’s Playful, Artistic, and Creative Kids in Developmental Stages)
  • Southside Youth Senter – Summer Learning Program
  • YMCA – Early Childhood Education
  • Zavala Hispanic Cultural Initiative – The Road to College and Beyond:
  • Catholic Charities – Community Connections
  • Wichita Adult Literacy Council (WALC)
  • Senior Citizens Activity Center of Burkburnett – Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals
  • THE Kitchen – Meals on Wheels
  • Big Brothers, Big Sisters
  • Habitat for Humanity – Corporate Challenge
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
  • Teen Court – School Courts & Campus Courts

Chairman of the Board David Cook stated during the kickoff event for the campaign that “Non-profits are vital to the well being of our community.”
