JP Morgan Chase Partners with Paul Quinn College in Plano
D Magazine reports that JP Morgan Chase is collaborating with Paul Quinn College to have 22 students work at the bank as part of company’s Advancing Black Pathways program.
More than 60 Paul Quinn College students live in Plano and work at 10 different corporate partners. Students enrolled in the program reside in apartments and complete their classwork at on-site spaces provided by their employers.

The program includes an initial assessment of incoming students, a free mental health clinic on campus, and promotion of wellness activities throughout campus.

Innovation Brought Paul Quinn College Back From Brink
Dallas Innovates shared how Paul Quinn College in Dallas faced closure 12 years ago and college president Michael Sorrell changed the educational trajectory to push more students toward graduation.
When President Sorrell joined Paul Quinn College, he learned the college only had 30 days of cash remaining and the college’s graduation rate was less than one percent. Over 12 years, through an innovative approach to inclusive education, 74 percent of Paul Quinn’s alumni are employed, enrollment has increased 250 percent since 2010, and retention is up to 71 percent.

Paul Quinn College Revamps Farm Project
The Dallas News reports Paul Quinn College is working on a new vision for their We Over Me Farm. In 2010, Paul Quinn College plowed its football field to create a farm. Since then, We Over Me Farm has produced over 30,000 pounds of produce to help the community. Paul Quinn College is located in a federally designated food desert and the college has helped bring a grocery store and farmer’s market to the neighborhood.
The college isn’t shutting down the farm yet but will announce their new plan for the farm next month.
