    J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall selected to receive $500K challenge grant

    The J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall is moving forward with a strategic fundraising initiative to replace and expand the natatorium’s roof. To accelerate its $5.2M capital campaign, the Y has been offered a $500K challenge grant from the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation. The Y must raise additional funds in community support to unlock funds.

    To unlock the Mabee Foundation’s funding opportunity, the Y must raise $892,670 in additional community support by January 13, 2027. Meeting this challenge will provide the final momentum needed to modernize the branch’s most heavily used spaces, ensuring the Y remains a central point of healthy living, safety, and a place for all. Rockwall County is the second fastest-growing community in the nation, making this update critical for residents. “We are deeply grateful for the early momentum and generous support we’ve had to jumpstart this project,” said Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “We’re on the path to creating a more robust Y for North Texans. We invite the rest of our community and neighbors to join us in crossing the finish line to provide a YMCA experience that is equipped for the future.”

    The capital campaign focuses on three critical areas of the branch designed to improve accessibility and expand programming capacity:
    ● Natatorium Transformation: The project will rebuild and winterize the roof and exterior walls, allowing for year-round use of the pool. Enhancements include a new changing room and upgraded safety features to support water safety programs, recreational swim and competitive swim sports.
    ● New Group Exercise Studio: To meet the increased demand for wellness programs, a new studio will be added to allow for expanded class offerings and more opportunities for members to connect through fitness.
    ● Parking Lot Expansion: Accessibility will be significantly improved with an expanded parking footprint to accommodate the growing number of families and individuals visiting the branch daily.

    From life-saving swim lessons to senior wellness initiatives, the planned updates ensure the facility remains a safe and welcoming “third space” for all. “The Y has been a place of belonging for my family for over half a century,” said Brett Packer, Member of the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall Board of Managers. “It’s time to ensure it remains that place for another half-century and beyond.   • Metrocrest Services receives $250,000 contribution to capital campaign

    Metrocrest Services has received a $250,000 contribution towards the agency’s Building Our Future capital campaign.

    Western Extrusions presented the check to Metrocrest Services at the company’s recent quarterly employee luncheon. The funds will be used to help build a stronger community by increasing the number of clients served by Metrocrest Services, as well improve the quality and reach of its services and programs.

    “We are grateful for the work that Metrocrest Services does in this community and are honored to be able to support the building of their new headquarters,” said Bennett McEvoy, CEO of Western Extrusions.

    “Western Extrusions has been a long-time supporter of the work of Metrocrest Services,” said Tracy Eubanks, CEO of Metrocrest Services. “Their employees have been here helping us in our food pantry, creating meals for our Sack Summer Hunger program, conducting toy and coat drives, and a multitude of other assistance. Western Extrusions is a company that truly cares about its community and the people here.”

    Metrocrest Services, a non-profit social services agency serving Carrollton, promotes well-being and independence through programs for individuals, families and seniors that lead to self-sufficiency and foster independence. The organization’ programs include rent and utility bill assistance, financial and budgeting assistance, food pantry, employment coaching and transportation, minor home repairs and home-delivered meals to benefit seniors. Additionally, Metrocrest provides programs focused on children including holiday gifts and summer food.

    A new home for Metrocrest Services is expected to open in the spring of 2023. It will allow the agency to bring all of its services under one roof, creating convenient access for clients and volunteers alike with the largest expansion the non-profit has had in its 50-year history.

    The new campus of Metrocrest Services will be located on 4.6 acres of property near the intersection of Josey Lane and Belt Line Road in Carrollton. A 48,000-square-foot facility will become a hub for all of the agency’s daily operations, including providing access to nutritious food, workforce development and financial literacy, rent and utility assistance, senior services and other programs for individuals, families and seniors that lead to self-sufficiency and foster independence.

    The campus will also include shared space for complementary service providers to support clients from one central location and a volunteer center for greater opportunities for community engagement. Bringing all Metrocrest Services programs under one roof, the new campus will allow for improved efficiency in all operations, and will house the expanded programs that the non-profit has launched to meet today’s elevated need while planning for the future.

    The new headquarters is funded by donors including Western Extrusions. Headquartered in Carrollton, the company is a national leader in the manufacturing of extruded aluminum products for critical infrastructure industries such as class 8 trucks, electric vehicles, truck trailers, utility scale solar power, electrical transmission, and numerous commercial construction products.

    In addition to the gift from Western Extrusions, Metrocrest Services has been issued a challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation for contributions raised by July 2022.
