  • Junior League Fort Worth announces 2024-2025 Board

    The Junior League of Fort Worth (JLFW) is celebrating 95 years of dedicated service to the community. Established in 1929 and chartered in 1930, the Junior League of Fort Worth ranks among the top 10 leagues. With nearly 2,000 members, JLFW contributes over 50,000 volunteer hours annually to more than 50 community agencies.

    The Junior League of Fort Worth has a few signature projects, including the Diaper Bank, Junior MINTS, and Paint a Playground. Additionally, through major fundraisers such as the Christmas in Cowtown Holiday Gift Market, Grand Entry Gala, ‘Yell & Sell’ Rodeo Program Sales, and the Annual Fund, the Junior League of Fort Worth will invest $1 million throughout 2024-2025 into the Fort Worth community.

    The enduring success of the Junior League of Fort Worth is a testament to the dedication of both past and present Board of Directors. Leading nearly 2,000 women is no small feat, and the 2024-25 JLFW Board is ready for the challenge. The women serving on this board are trailblazers, leading change and inspiring others to continue advancing women’s leadership, meeting the needs of our community, and building a brighter future for all.

  • Junior League of Fort Worth accepting applications for volunteer support

    The Junior League of Fort Worth is now accepting applications for its Done in a Day opportunity.

    The initiative responds to community needs and includes short-term volunteers for a 3 hour shift any day throughout the year. Volunteers can assist with nonprofit events or special projects.

    Applications should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event. Agencies can access the application online. Questions can be emailed to done.in.a.day@juniorleaguefw.org.

  • Junior League of Fort Worth creates youth volunteer program

    The Junior League of Fort Worth (JLFW) has a new program that introduces children to volunteering and the League. Little Leaguers is open to youth of all ages who are affiliated with JLFW members, including children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors.

    The goal of Little Leaguers is to share the Junior League of Fort Worth’s commitment to voluntarism and community improvement. It is also a way to improve children’s social skills, develop a sense of community, and teach the power of gratitude and empathy. 

    The Little Leaguers program is comprised of three components: donations, service and education. Events are hosted for children to participate in volunteering and learning about the agency partner. Donations are collected prior to the event.

    In its inaugural year, Little Leaguers have served The Welman Project, the JLFW Diaper Bank, the Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, ACH Child and Family Services, Community Storehouse, and Unbound.  Participants have donated almost 4,500 diapers, filled 100 reusable bags for new teachers, tied 30 fleece blankets, brought toys and gifts for a “Christmas House” at Community Store house, and created 40 bags for the women and children served at Unbound.

    The Junior League of Fort Worth, Texas, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

  • New board announced for Junior League of Fort Worth

    The Junior League of Fort Worth, Inc. (JLFW) announced its new President, Elizabeth Knuckley, and Board of Directors for the 2021-2022 league year. Knuckley has been a member of Junior League of Fort Worth since 2011 and has previously served in roles such as Done-In-A-Day co-chair, Education Vice President and on the Strategic Plan Committee. Carrying on the commitment to the Junior League’s mission of improving the Fort Worth community, President Elizabeth Knuckley is supported by the Board of Directors to lead the organization in involvement and volunteerism.   

    The JLFW has nearly 2,000 members who annually contribute over 50,000 volunteer hours to over 50 agencies in the community, including Justin’s Place, Alliance for Children, Inc. and Unbound Fort Worth. Over the last five years, JLFW has raised over $4.2 million through fundraisers such as Christmas in Cowtown Holiday Gift Market and “Yell & Sell” Rodeo program sales.   

    The JLFW theme for the 2021-2022 year is Unstoppable. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the Junior League of Fort Worth maintained their commitment to serving the Fort Worth community.   

    “As the Junior League of Fort Worth begins our 92nd year, we are ready to meet this moment of opportunity emerging from a global pandemic and a once-in-a-lifetime winter storm. No matter the challenges, our League is committed to its mission of improving the community and developing our women. Together we are unstoppable!” said Knuckley.

    Justin’s Place  

    $100,000 for a community space to allow families to gather in smalls groups or facility wide functions for cooking classes and other experiences.   

    Tarrant Area Food Bank  

    $100,000 to establish 5 new school pantries and maintain for 3 years, serving an estimated 1,500 families a month.   

    Alliance for Children   

    $100,000 to fund the construction of a Client Emergency Needs Supply Cottage and to purchase an inventory tracking system.   

    Unbound Fort Worth  

    $75,000 towards supplies for the runaway and trafficked youth drop-in center.  

    Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County  

    $50,000 to fund physical infrastructure and bulk pantry item purchases.   

    Community Storehouse  

    $45,000 to establish a technology center.  

    Breakthrough Fort Worth  

    $45,000 towards programming costs for an additional location to support 70-80 Fort Worth ISD seventh and eighth graders.   

    The Welman Project  

    $25,000 towards renovations for a creative collaboration space for Fort Worth educators.   

    Con Mi MADRE  

    $20,000 to support the out-of-school program, including educational conferences, college and career fairs, a leadership summit and college visits.

    Junior League announced the Fort Worth Chapter has won this year’s Fund Development Award for excellence in raising funds to support League Projects and Mission. 

  • Junior League of Fort Worth Kicks Off 90th Year

    The Junior League of Fort Worth (JLFW) is celebrating the organization’s 90th year. The JLFW is the 10th largest League in the world, and a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International.

    The 2019 – 2020 JLFW President is Ashley Freer and is a long-time member of the Junior League who brings nearly 20 years of experience as a marketing professional and local businesswoman to the League. She is a principal at Fort Worth’s Balcom Agency, where she leads strategy and heads a group of account service team members

    “For 90 years now, the women of the Junior League of Fort Worth have sparked possibility in our community, volunteering their time to lead and unite over community service. That has been our past, it is our present and it will be our future,” says Freer. “We have embraced the theme ‘Spark Possibility’ internally for 2019-2020 because we honor what has been built by our membership in the past – from Historic Fort Worth to Mayfest to The Parenting Center – while also recognizing that there is work to be done.”

    During the JLFW’s 90th year, $490,000 has been allocated to distribute to area nonprofits within five Impact Areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Health & Nutrition, Life Readiness and Supports Fort Worth. Organizations receiving funding 2019-2020 are:
