    Record-Breaking Outcome for Foodie Philanthropy 

    Foodie Philanthropy, the annual culinary extravaganza dedicated to raising funds for charitable causes, announced a record-breaking outcome for its 2024 event. On April 10, 2024, representatives from Foodie Philanthropy and emcee Marc Istook anchor of WFAA’s Daybreak presented a check to the James L. West Center for Dementia Care in support of its mission to serve individuals impacted by dementia. 

    Foodie Philanthropy has exceeded all expectations this year as a result of the 46 participating restaurants and raffle sales that raised a record breaking $105,000, a 28% increase over the prior year. These funds will be instrumental in supporting the James L. West Center’s Dementia and Caregiver Education Program, which provides personalized, innovative care and support for families navigating the challenges of dementia.

  • Foodie Philanthropy makes RFP available for 2024 Charity of Choice

    Proposals are now being accepted for the Foodie Philanthropy 2024 Charity of Choice/2023 Charity in Waiting.

    The deadline to submit applications is July 29.

    The mission of Foodie Philanthropy is bringing together foodies for philanthropic causes. In lieu of the traditional gala dinner concept, the organization hosts a one-night event each year where patrons are invited to join a table of 10 at one of the many participating restaurants.

    Each restaurant involved donates a chef-curated, three-course meal with wine or drink pairings. Patrons host a full table or purchase individual seats if available at their restaurant of choice. Proceeds benefit that year’s chosen charity.

    The selected 2023 Charity in Waiting will be expected to participate in Foodie Philanthropy planning committee meetings between September 2022 and the February 2023 event to think about how to best maximize their network, board and contacts for the 2024 fundraising event. This planning period helps the benefiting organization to ‘hit the ground running’ when it becomes the designated Charity of Choice, raising more funds in the process. 

    Charities in greater Fort Worth implementing programs that deliver a sustainable and positive impact for individuals in need will be considered. Foodie Philanthropy supports existing or newly-designed programs that are results-based, and that meet the overall objectives and criteria outlined in its charity selection guidelines. Proposals are only accepted from organizations that have been in existence for at least two years. Grantees should plan for their projects to cover the 2024 program year.

    The selected organization will be expected to provide staff and volunteer support leading up to the event day, which includes hosting table packet pick-up and delivery, and restaurant packet deliveries. Additionally, the organization must provide a minimum of 15 volunteers to help on the day and night of the event.

    Applications can be submitted online. Applicants meeting all requirements will be announced for a public vote Aug. 9-19. The results of the public vote are a portion of the selection process and do not entirely determine the 2024 Charity of Choice. Applicants are also reviewed by a Charity Selection Committee comprised of key community leaders and local chefs. 

    The recipient institution for 2024 will be announced in September. The 2023 Foodie Philanthropy event, benefiting A Wish with Wings, is scheduled for Feb. 25, 2023. The 2024 Foodie Philanthropy event date has not been set.

    A Wish With Wings was the first wish-granting agency in Texas. Since it’s founding 40 years ago, the agency has granted more than 1,700 wishes to young Texans with life-threatening medical conditions.

  • Foodie Philanthropy reports record fundraising

    Foodie Philanthropy announced the annual one-night fundraising event, held this year on Feb. 26, generated a record amount in support of its 2022 charity of choice.

    As the beneficiary, Methodist Justice Ministry (MJM) received $69,300 to support its mission of providing free legal representation and ongoing support for individuals who have experienced neglect and domestic violence.

    The mission of Foodie Philanthropy is bringing together like-minded foodies for philanthropic causes. The nonprofit supports charitable organizations by hosting a dinner at various restaurants on one night each year. In contrast to the standard gala dinner concept, each participating restaurant donates a table of 10, which includes a chef-curated three-course meal with wine or drink pairings.

    Tables are hosted by corporate and community leaders who encourage friends, clients and colleagues to dine with them at the participating restaurant. Patrons can host a full table, or purchase individual seats at the restaurant of their choice if available. After dinner, all Foodies meet at an after-party to share their culinary experiences. Tickets can be purchased to attend the after party only. Funds from the table, seat and ticket purchases are donated to that year’s chosen charitable recipient.

    Seats went on sale in January and costs ranged from $75 to $250, depending upon the restaurant and menu being served. Additional tickets for the after party, which was held at Wild Acre Brewing Company with musical guest Brad Thompson, were $40 each.

    “We are extremely grateful to the restaurants for continuing to support this event and all of the Foodies that gathered around these tables in support of Methodist Justice Ministry,” said Joanna Crain, Co-Founder of Foodie Philanthropy.

    MJM is the only pro bono legal organization in Tarrant County that accepts the sometimes complicated cases that nearly always require a tremendous amount of time researching and securing documentation to present in court.

    The agency also provides counseling and financial assistance to ensure a successful transition for clients into a safe and nurturing home environment. MJM reports that about 80 percent of its cases assist abused children, with the remainder providing legal representation for both parent and child.

    Since its founding, Foodie Philanthropy has raised more than $345,000 to help charitable organizations in greater Fort Worth. Previous beneficiaries have included Girls, Inc. of Tarrant County, The Women’s Center of Tarrant County, the Hope Center for Autism, The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation, and The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever, which benefited more than 20 local organizations with matching funds.

    Methodist Justice Ministry (MJM) announced that Foodie Philanthropy has chosen MJM as the 2022 benefactor of their annual fundraiser.

    Joanna Crain, Co-Founder of Foodie Philanthropy, stated “We are excited to partner with Methodist Justice Ministry as our 2022 Charity of Choice to help raise awareness and much needed funds that will allow them to continue the important work they are doing to protect women and children that have nowhere else to turn.”

    Foodie Philanthropy is a nonprofit organization with a mission of bringing together like-minded foodies for philanthropic causes. The impact made, both financially and publicly, when restaurants band together can make a major difference in the lives of others. Since its founding, Foodie Philanthropy has raised over $275,000.00 to help worthwhile organizations in Greater Fort Worth that are providing a positive and sustainable impact on those in need.

    Foodie Philanthropy supports organizations who assist those less fortunate by hosting an annual dinner at various restaurants. To date, Foodie Philanthropy has supported Girls, Inc. of Tarrant County, The Women’s Center of Tarrant County, the Hope Center for Autism, The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation and The Taste Project.

  • Foodie Philanthropy Accepting Proposals

    Foodie Philanthropy, located in Fort Worth, has announced they are accepting applications for their 2020 charity selection. Local charities who are currently implementing programs that deliver a sustainable and positive impact to those in need throughout the Greater Fort Worth area are eligible.

    Proposals are due July 12.
