  • Dwell with Dignity’s The STUDIO raised $145,000 at sold-out premiere party

    Dwell with Dignity’s The STUDIO (formerly Thrift Studio), presented by Amazon, raised $145,000 at its VIP Premiere Party on April 9, drawing more than 300 guests from Dallas’ design, business and philanthropic communities for the kickoff of the organization’s highly anticipated month-long pop-up. Now in its 15th year, The STUDIO is open to the public through May 9 at 1833 E. Levee St. in the Dallas Design District.

    The energy at the Premiere Party reflected what The STUDIO has become over 15 years: one of Dallas’ most celebrated spring events at the intersection of design, community and purpose. Every dollar raised goes directly to Dwell with Dignity’s mission of transforming homes and lives for families after experiencing homelessness and poverty.

    “The STUDIO exists because a well-designed home is not a luxury—it’s a lifeline,” said Teresa Charnock, Executive Director of Dwell with Dignity. “Research confirms that thoughtfully designed spaces measurably reduce stress, support emotional recovery and restore dignity. For families rebuilding after experiencing homelessness and poverty, that changes everything. When you shop The STUDIO, you are part of that transformation.”

    Amazon returns as Presenting Sponsor of The STUDIO, deepening a partnership that has helped generate more than $1.5 million in merchandise sales and supported life-changing home transformations for 72 Dallas families.

    The STUDIO features seven of Dallas’ most sought-after interior designers, each with a distinct aesthetic. Each designer has transformed their space into a fully styled room vignette filled with donated and curated furniture, art, accessories and housewares—all at deeply discounted prices.

  • Dwell with Dignity’s Thrift Studio raises $100K+ at premiere party

    Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming lives through design, kicked off Thrift Studio, presented by Amazon, with a Premiere Party that raised $107,000 on April 3. More than 300 attendees were the first to shop for furniture, artwork and accessories, while sipping beverages and enjoying appetizers. 

    The month-long pop is open to the public to shop for home furnishings and accessories at deeply discounted prices. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1833 E. Levee St., Dallas, TX 75207, and there is no cost for admission.

    The limited-time shopping event features a curated collection of designer-donated furniture, artwork and décor at inexpensive prices, with 100 percent of proceeds supporting Dwell with Dignity’s mission.

    “We replenish the studio daily, so there’s always something new to discover,” said Teresa Charnock, executive director of Dwell with Dignity. “Every purchase helps us transform spaces into homes for families who are coming out of difficult situations and supports schools and nonprofits that need beautiful, functional spaces to further their mission.” 

    Thrift Studio features six new designers annually who install vignettes using their own donated inventory. The pop-up also includes a curated selection of general donated furniture and décor, as well as artwork collected at the Art+Color Party.

  • The Village Giving Circle invests $186K in black-serving agencies

    The Village Giving Circle (VGC), an all-Black female Dallas-based philanthropy group, distributed $186,000 to 16 nonprofits at a celebration on Nov. 6.

    The 2022 VGC grantees include:

    More than 100 guests attended a recognition event for the grantees at the Frito-Lay headquarters. Special guests included the Orchid Giving Circle, The Latina Giving Circle (H100) and the Texas Women’s Foundation.

    Since founding in 2017, VGC has gifted $1.1 million to support nonprofits in the DFW area, serving Dallas, Denton Collin and Tarrant Counties. It was launched by nine African-American women who believed they had the power to help transform the community by investing collective resources.

    VGC supports organizations and initiatives that address major obstacles facing the African-American community. Areas of impact include arts and culture, education, economic security, health, social services, youth, and seniors.

  • Dwell with Dignity Announces Pop-Up Shop

    Dallas-based Dwell with Dignity has announced the launch of their 2019 Thrift Studio Pop-Up Shop as they celebrate their tenth anniversary. The 30-day pop-up shop opens in April and will feature high-end home décor items and original artwork with proceeds benefiting Dwell with Dignity’s mission to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design.

    Open from April 5 to May 4, Tuesday through Saturday between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Dwell with Dignity’s Thrift Studio Pop-Up Shop is free for attendees to explore and shop.
