  • On the Move: nonprofit leaders taking on new roles

    This week: National Snaffle Bit Association, The Dallas Arts District, BoardBuild

    Erica Jobe joins the National Snaffle Bit Association as Foundation Development Manager to help promote and improve Western Pleasure horses and Hunter Under Saddle horses.

    The Dallas Arts District has named Ahava Silkey-Jones as its new executive director, selecting a veteran arts administrator to lead the organization as it enters its next phase of growth. Silkey-Jones, who most recently served as vice provost of Dallas College’s School of Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design, brings more than 15 years of experience in arts administration, higher education, nonprofit leadership and civic engagement.

    Yván Cuevas, Amanda Badgett, Megan McKennon, and Shon Dorsey, MSW are the newest Board Members of BoardBuild. Each of these exceptional leaders has demonstrated the power of purpose-driven board matching and reinforcing BoardBuild’s commitment to connecting organizations with the right leaders to strengthen governance and drive lasting impact.

  • BoardBuild announces new board and staff members

    BoardBuild has announced the addition of 5 new board members: Sandra Garcia Acevedo, Vianei Lopez Braun, Anthony Placencio, Brian Renteria, James Sackey. The new board members join existing board members Jeffrey Allison, Kathryn Ball, Matthew Ciardiello, D.J. Harrell, Elise Kensinger, Gregory Nielsen, Willie Rankin, Ed Riefenstahl, and Beth Watson.

    “Expansion of BoardBuild’s board of directors to include industry experts from across the country has allowed BoardBuild to build a best-in-class board.  We even used our own platform to identify and recruit to specific skill sets, demographics and industry representation!” said Pamela Cannell, BoardBuild CEO.

    BoardBuild also welcomed two staff members: John Hernandez, Director of Strategy, and Krista Johnson, Director of Communication and Training.

  • BoardBuild Announces Chief Executive Officer Pamela Cannell

    BoardBuild, located in Fort Worth, has named Pam Cannell as CEO. BoardBuild was founded in 2019 and contributes to the success of nonprofit organizations by filling their boards with skilled individuals who seek to make a positive impact on their communities.

     “I am honored to steward the mission of BoardBuild in North Texas and beyond,” said Cannell. “BoardBuild envisions a world where diverse, trained leaders and organizations can unite and foster strong communities in which to work, play, and grow.”

    Formed through a partnership between the United Way of Tarrant County and Leadership Fort Worth, BoardBuild provides online training for potential nonprofit board members and also offers nonprofits the opportunity to post board openings.

  • United Way of Tarrant County and Leadership Fort Worth Launch BoardBuild

    The Fort Worth Business Press reports a new nonprofit called BoardBuild is being formed to help nonprofits build better, well-trained boards. Led by the United Way of Tarrant County and Leadership Fort Worth, the new organization will strengthen communities through training and matching leaders with qualified nonprofit boards.

    The 2018 Leadership Class of Leadership Fort Worth studied the issues around the lack of support for nonprofit boards of directors and types of available training. This will also help in creating diversity in nonprofit boards as suitable board members are identified through BoardBuild.

    BoardBuild plans a soft launch in July and a hard launch in the fall.
