Opal’s Farm Launches to Help Fort Worth Food Deserts

KERA News reports a new nonprofit, Opal’s Farm, is launching on the banks off the Trinity River in Fort Worth to address the needs of the city’s food deserts.

A food desert is an urban area in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food. Opal’s Farm is named for Opal Lee, a retired educator and longtime community volunteer.
