North Texas Community Foundation announces ToolBox grantees

North Texas Community Foundation announced that $275,300 in funding was awarded to 22 community-based organizations through the 2023 ToolBox grants program.

The latest census reports that 11.6% of Tarrant County residents live below the poverty line. Additionally, data shows that specific neighborhoods in our community are disproportionately affected by the compounding impacts of poverty, including lack of income, low-performing schools, poor health outcomes and transportation barriers.

ToolBox grants provide capacity building support to organizations combatting poverty in Tarrant County. By providing financial resources to address fundraising and strategic planning, these grants help improve the organizations’ strength and stability to more effectively serve residents in our most vulnerable communities (as defined by the CDC’s social vulnerability index). ToolBox grants are intended to be one-time, transformative gifts.

“North Texas Community Foundation is committed to supporting nonprofits so they can operate efficiently and make a positive impact in our communities,” said Rose Bradshaw, president and CEO of North Texas Community Foundation. “These capacity building grants are intended to provide organizations with the tools, knowledge and support they need to provide crucial services in our region.”

Grant proposals were reviewed by a grant committee chaired by Kelly Hanley, and included Michael Appleman, Nathaniel Aranda, Orlando Carvalho, Robert Fernandez, Kristie Gibson, Jalyn Gordon, Briana Kirby, Adelaide Leavens, Ann Lopez, Mike Malloy, Chuck Milliken, Horatio Porter, Jemimah Walyulya and Angela White.

“For several years, the Community Foundation has been proud to provide grants to nonprofits that are uplifting residents of our most vulnerable communities. The latest ToolBox grant cycle continues this important work,” said Kelly Hanley, grant committee chair.
