New RFPs Support Workforce Development and Transportation

Here are two recent federal grant opportunities:

Grants for Transportation in Highly Rural Areas

  • Funder: Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Expected number of awards: 15
  • Cost sharing required? No
  • Due date: May 5, 2026
  • Award range: up to $50,000
  • Eligibility: VA accredited Veterans Service Organization (VSO) or a State Veterans Agency
  • Description: Highly Rural Transportation Grants (HRTG) is a grant-based program that helps Veterans in highly rural areas travel to VA or VA-authorized health care facilities. This program provides grant funding to Veteran Service Organizations and State Veterans Service Agencies to provide transportation services in eligible counties.  HRTG provides transportation programs in counties with fewer than seven people per square mile. There is no cost to participate in the program for Veterans who live in an area where HRTG is available.

Indian and Native American Programs – Employment and Training Grants

  • Funder: Department of Labor
  • Expected number of awards: 63
  • Cost sharing required? No
  • Closing date: May 22, 2026
  • Award range: up to $2.8 million
  • Eligibility: Nonprofits, tribal governments, tribal organizations
  • Summary: The Indian and Native American Program (INAP) supports employment and training activities for Indian and Native Americans throughout the United States by awarding grant funding to eligible entities at the local level for the provision of employment services. Grant award recipients may use funding to help all eligible Indian and Native Americans (INA), including Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians, with employment, financial assistance for education and training, and other supportive services necessary to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
