Here are two new federal grant opportunities that were recently announced. These opportunities could be a strong fit depending on your organization’s mission and goals.

Title: FY26 COPS School Violence Prevention Program

  • Award range: $500,000
  • Due date: August 4, 2026
  • Cost sharing required? Yes
  • Who is eligible? States, units of local government, Indian Tribes, and their public agencies, including school districts (including public charter schools and school districts with a single school); School boards; Law enforcement agencies.
  • Summary: This funding opportunity seeks to provide competitive funding directly to states, units of local government, Indian tribes, and their public agencies to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the recipient’s jurisdiction through evidence-based school safety programs.

Title: OVW Fiscal Year 2026 Legal Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Stalking, and Sexual Assault Grant Program

  • Funding Agency: Office on Violence Against Women
  • Projected number of awards: 60
  • Award range: $400,000-$900,000
  • Due date: July 31, 2026
  • Cost sharing required? No
  • Who is eligible? Nonprofits, tribal organizations, institutions of higher education, and tribal governments
  • Summary: The Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program increases access to legal assistance for victims of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking who are seeking relief in legal matters relating to or arising out of that abuse or violence. It funds projects that provide comprehensive legal assistance, as defined in 34 U.S.C. § 12291(a)(24). The projects must include organizations that have a mission and history of providing direct services to victims of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
