New Executive Director joins Dallas Kids First

The organization elevates dialogue on the impact of school board leadership for kids.

Dallas Kids First, a non-partisan organization focused on engaging more Dallas voters around high-quality school board leadership, announces the appointment of a new Executive Director.

Appel brings expertise in education, strategy and political campaigns to her new position. She has worked as a public elementary school teacher, a data analyst for Dallas ISD and The Commit Partnership, and as a political consultant for 14+ campaigns from Congress to City Council and School Board.

“As a former public school student and teacher myself, I believe that every single child deserves access to a strong education and preparation for life,” said Appel. “School board members make so many policy decisions every month that impact our children’s learning and daily experience, so quality trustees are essential to the change our school districts need to better serve all of our students. DKF is the perfect place for me to use my skills in education, data, and political campaigns to do the most good for public school students.”

Marie Appel is a first generation college graduate of Harvard University. Originally from Navarino, NY, she has called central Dallas home for the last 8 years.
