Lumin Education welcome new Executive Director

Lumin Education announced Dionne Kirby will serve as their new Executive Director beginning August 5th, 2024.

With a wealth of experience in education and the Dallas nonprofit sector, Dionne brings a dynamic leadership style that perfectly aligns with Lumin’s mission of transforming education for children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.

Dionne’s journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to serving the community. From her experience as a classroom teacher to providing support to school principals and instructional coaches in the Dallas Independent School District, she has consistently demonstrated a passion for empowering both educators and students alike. Her leadership roles in the Dallas-based nonprofits Literacy Achieves and the Dallas Dinner Table further underscore her dedication to driving meaningful impact through education.

“Dionne is the kind of person who listens – to the families we serve, to the staff who make our work possible, and to the challenges and opportunities of the larger early childhood community,” says outgoing Executive Director and Lumin co-founder, Terry N. Ford. “I am confident that she will respond with energy, wisdom, and creativity to the challenges and opportunities that await us in the future.”

Michael Giles, Lumin’s Board President, says “We at Lumin are so pleased and honored that, after an extensive national search, we have found a candidate as singularly qualified as Dionne Kirby. Her skills and expertise, as well as her commitment to being a lifelong learner, are in close alignment with Lumin’s mission.”
