Headline: R&B Artist Abraham Alexander – Free at the Levitt Pavilion
Born in Greece to parents of Nigerian descent, R&B/soul artist Abraham Alexander moved to Texas with his family at age 11, determined to escape the racial tensions they faced in Athens. But while his lyrics speak to pain, trauma and life-changing loss, Alexander instills his music with a joyful passion and irrepressible spirit, ultimately giving way to songs that radiate undeniable hope. In the making of his debut EP, Alexander traveled from Fort Worth to London and worked with producer-songwriters like Cameron Warren (The Dap-Kings, Dan Caplen), shaping his songs with elements of soul, hip hop, and blues. He is currently working on a follow-up album…and on Friday night, he’ll be playing a free concert at the Levitt, courtesy of Levitt sponsor First Rate.
Opening for Abraham Alexander is Eaglin, an indie-pop/rock sister act combining nostalgia and modern influences mixed with ambitious storylines and sounds inspired by Bailee and Kenzie’s growing-up years in Denton, TX. Their debut single, “Vanilla,” marks the beginning of a journey just begun, bringing their vibrant mood-boosters and self-reflective anthems to families and friends beyond their hometown. The sisters attribute their love of music and performance to their upbringing in an artistic and creative city, with north Texas bands like Flickerstick, Chomsky, Brave Combo and Bowling for Soup helping shape their eclectic style and tone. The duo released their self-titled debut EP in the summer of 2021, featuring a breakthrough collaboration of nostalgia and modern indie pop-rock, led by the infectious Brooklyn-inspired anthem “Twenty-Three” and collaborations with Grammy winners and artists around the country. Eaglin’s Levitt performance is brought to you by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, a longtime supporter of free live music for our community.
Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome for the Alexander-Eaglin show, or you can check out any number of nearby Downtown Arlington dining establishments before or after the concert….OR, keep it simple and avail yourself of tasty cuisine from the Levitt food truck fleet during the show. Headline: Jack Ingram – Free at the Levitt Pavilion
The Levitt is excited to kick off October with a free concert headlined by alt/indie country star Jack Ingram, noted for hits like “Wherever You Are,” “Lips of an Angel”, and “Barefoot and Crazy.” One of Texas’s most beloved music artists, Jack has released multiple albums and singles since the ‘90s, and he’s also the host of “Texas Music Scene,” a nationally syndicated award-winning music series.
**Jack’s show is sure to be one of the most popular of the Levitt season, so early arrival is recommended.**
Opening for Jack Ingram is Dusty Moats, a veteran Texas country artist offering a distinct sound he’s honed over 20 years playing at honky tonks and dance clubs around the country, often sharing the stage with the likes of Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Gary Allan, Toby Keith, Styx, and Stoney LaRue. Whether his show is acoustic or full band, covers or originals, Dusty is passionate about making music that is relatable, memorable, and enjoyable for all age groups; he loves delivering shows that keep his audiences moving on the dance floor or engaged on the edge of their seats.
As always, lawn chairs and coolers are welcome at the Levitt’s free concerts, but leave the glass containers at home. Visit levittpavilionarlington.org to find out more about free parking, upcoming free concerts, and how to rent the Levitt Hospitality Center for your special occasion.
