Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County accepts fundraising challenge

By STEPHANIE PATRICK

The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Okla., recently issued a $600,000 challenge grant to Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County for its Lewisville expansion project. The challenge is for CACDC to raise $1 million in new private funding by July 11, 2018, to receive the grant and finish its $4 million capital campaign.

CACDC, a nonprofit organization that provides education, justice and healing for abused children, received more than $2.3 million as of mid-October from local individuals, foundations and government grants, stated Mimi Bishop, development director, in an email. The challenge grant states all money toward the goal must come from individuals, foundations, corporations and other private funding sources.

The challenge grant from Mabee Foundation is the largest grant received for the Lewisville expansion project to date, a press release stated. The capital campaign began in 2014.

The 10,000-square-foot expansion and 3,500-square-foot renovation will enable CACDC to provide additional counseling, child friendly investigative interviews, victim assistance and other needed support services, the press release stated.

For more about the capital campaign, contact Bishop at (972) 538-9612 or email mimi@cacdc.org.
