Denton County Friends of the Family breaks ground on Family Justice Center

Written by DFW501c Reporter

A crowd of more than 200 community members and local leaders joined Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF) for a ceremonial groundbreaking, officially launching phase one of the Family Justice Center (FJC) project. The event marks a significant step toward creating a centralized, coordinated hub for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and their children. The new Family Justice Center is designed to bring multiple essential agencies under one roof, ensuring victims can access holistic, coordinated services and enhanced partnerships with social services across the county.

A Launchpad for Healing
“We are so excited to be breaking ground on this project,” said Toni Johnson-Simpson, MSW, Executive Director of Denton County Friends of the Family. “We’re not just building a facility. We’re creating a launchpad for growth, healing, and generational change. We could not have gotten here without the generous support of our community, represented by today’s participants.” Phase one of the construction focuses on expanding safe housing options for survivors, a crucial initial step toward the complete vision of the Family Justice Center.
